The confidence index of the Panamanian consumer rose 8.3 points based on the change of government with the new President Ricardo Martinelli. These feeling come from a survey firm known as “The Marketing Group.” The survey points out that the general population believes President Martinelli is a more optimal business management type and will increase employment over the next 12 months.
With more jobs, the variable of savings kicks in. This, an important fact in order to build a strong economy, domestic savings are crucial, they are what keeps banks stable and gives independence to the Panama economy with regard to the international financial system.
Panama is fueled by a booming construction market, a strong banking sector, the build out of the Panama Canal (well into 2014) a holding it’s own GDP all points to why Panama’s economy is one of the fastest growing in Latin America.
